Meridian Wine Distribution in Brackenfell, Cape Town is looking for a proactive and analytical Demand Planner to join our growing team. This role is key to ensuring we meet customer demand while maintaining efficient inventory and supply chain operations.

Responsibilities: 

  • Agree on delivery time frames and methods with suppliers and Meridian Wine Distribution.
  • Plan, organize, direct, manage and evaluate the inventory management activities and of Meridian Wine Distribution.
  • Assist with the development and communication of policies and procedures for inventory management.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to inventory management operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and review inventory reports (quantity, product, stock on hand, exceptions, vintages etc.) and Demonstrate ability to anticipate and manage change effectively.
  • Monitor and review vintage transition report in accordance with vintage management procedures.
  • Monitor overall stock levels and escalate overstock/under-stock situations.
  • Conduct investigations into inventory management incidents to verify and resolve queries.
  • This will require high level forecasting reviews including historical and future sales data.
  • Complete Purchase Orders and issue to suppliers.
  • Complete transfer orders and arrange distribution to regional warehouses
  • Plan and prioritize, demonstrating abilities to manage competing demands (Internal and External stakeholders).
  • Work across departments to update forecasts and co-ordinate supply plans.
  • Ensure continuous development and up-to-date industry knowledge and competence.
  • Coordinate timely identification and removal of defective or unsafe wine products from inventory on request of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all inventory brought in complies with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
  • Maintain contingency plans to address potential disruptions in wine supply or logistics.
  • Take full responsibility for the continuous development of leadership capability by growing leadership skills and knowledge, as well as participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations etc.
  • Facilitate open and effective communication and promote cross-functional and cross-company collaboration, thereby contributing towards a diverse and productive work environment.
  • Address and resolve conflicts within the team to maintain a healthy work environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Supply Chain Management.

  • 1 - 5 years' experience within a Demand Planning environment.

  • Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
